cabpizzaFriday night under the stars at Apeizza e Vino is a must stop for all pizza and wine lovers! We stumbled upon this little gem in Lafayette over on Public Road after a 30 mile drive on HWY 287 in search of a date night adventure in food.  We struck gold at this spot.

Arriving after 7pm we opted to sit outside on the patio to hear acoustic guitar player Marc Landry. Fantastic song selections, sung at a level to be enjoyed while still being able to talk to one another with indoor voices. As my husband would say, “music is a time machine transporting one to another time and place” and Marc delivered that by playing some awesome oldies. A light breeze in the air, stars in the sky and crickets as his back up singers graced the night.2013-08-10 08.23.19

The wine offerings are nice; just enough choice range for taste and budget without overwhelming. The Darkhorse Cabernet 2011 won out for us and was the perfect choice with our pizza selection. This was a smooth Cab with black cherry and vanilla tones that enhanced every bite, but can hold it’s own alone too. Apeizza e Vino has awesome pizza combo’s making it hard to choose; so Leah, our server, let us combine our top two choices into one pizza! Half of our pie was the Pollo Pesto – oven roasted, pulled chicken, red onions, basil pesto, sun dried tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, topped with shaved parmesan. The other half was the Prosciutto E Arugula – parmigiano reggiano, extra virgin olive oil, arugula, prosciutto di parma, and fior di latte mozzarella. Bellissimo! A moment worth bringing your fingers together to your lips, kissing them and raising them high! 2013-08-10 08.17.25

Not to be left out would be the caprese ordered prior to our pizza; organic tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella, with fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic reduction. Did I mention Apeizza e Vino makes mozzarella fresh daily? Bellissimo again! Rounding up the third Bellisssimo for the night was the cannoli. This Italian is pretty picky as I make homemade cannoli, but again, I was not disappointed.2013-08-10 08.19.07
